Leadership

Veteran Fellowship is guided by a board of veterans and professionals committed to preserving the transfer of experience across generations of service.

John MacTaggart

Board President | Founder

John MacTaggart is the board president and founder of Veteran Fellowship and served more than two decades as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy Reserve, including a year-long deployment to Afghanistan. A graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business (MBA), he built his career in maritime engineering and safety leadership and currently works with the American Bureau of Shipping. Drawing on years of service alongside multiple generations of sailors and time spent working aboard merchant ships—where mentorship and the passing of practical knowledge are central to life at sea—he created Veteran Fellowship to strengthen the continuity of experience and judgment across generations of military service.
